Navaratri
Navaratri literally translates to 'nine nights.' In Hinduism, our divine mother has 9 forms and we spend each of these nine nights rejoicing her beautiful forms. The first three nights we dance and worship for Parvati (Kali) mata to purify our lives and rid us of our sins and bad karma. The next three nights, we wear beautiful lenghas and celebrate Divine Mother's form of wealth Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the representation of not only material wealth but spiritual wealth as well. And the last three days are spent celebrating the goddess of wisdom, Saraswati. We dance in a circle around an idol of either Saraswati or Lakshmi, a representation of the divine mother.
